Dan Preston In The Morning
6am - 10am
Born into a military family on Christmas Day, Dan has lived all over the United States and usually answers the question “Where did you grow up?” with “That is a trick question, my friend!” The answer includes 7 different states, but he calls a farm near Tucker’s Swamp home. Dan joined the United States Coast Guard while still at Southampton High School and traveled some more.
Dan has been called funny and charming, patriotic and sentimental, a workaholic and a coffee addict (he pleads guilty to all of them). He will not admit to being an adrenaline junkie, but he has hiked around active volcanoes, been parasailing, piloted a small boat through a hurricane, traveled by hot air balloon and other interesting things. Dan enjoys having a good time and enjoying life to the fullest.
Dan is the Program Director and morning show host on Real Country 101.7.

My radio career began in Southern WV at 16. I’ve been lucky enough to host nationally syndicated radio shows: "Colleen's Classic Country USA, and "Cross Country Songs of Faith." -- Past TV stints: Host on the "Shop At Home" network, and Weathercaster. I'm married to Scott, the great hunter (think Duck Dynasty -- beard and all). We have one daughter, Katie, who is about to finish her college career as a registered nurse. We are all country music fans. Many evenings at our house are spent fishing at our pond. I've ridden motorcycles since I was a kid, and LOVE my Indian Chief. We are currently restoring a '69 Camaro that I will drive a LOT. -- Early on, I pledged my heart to Elvis, and then Waylon Jennings. I love how Keith Urban feels the music when he plays, and Kenny Chesney's incredible knack of picking great songs. There are so many talented acts, but the sound that Eric Church and Zac Brown are bringing to country is really cool. I also believe there's a place for artists like Steven Tyler. -- I'm just a country fan. Period.
I was born in Dallas, TX where my dad was following his radio dream and my mom was a Registered Nurse, but I mostly grew up in Michigan. I was the kid in school that wanted to be everyone's friend, so I was in the band (Tuba), hung out with the theatre kids and played basketball, baseball and football. My younger brother shared my passion for music, which made for a noisy house growing up. I graduated from Michigan State University (Go Green!) with a degree in Geography and planned on being a teacher. I really enjoy any chance to be outside fishing, golfing or skiing....which I have zero talent for any of them. My inside time is spent trying to learn more about wine, trying to learn Spanish and trying to perfect the 3 Chicken dishes I can cook. I'm so grateful to be able to listen and talk about music for a living and maybe I'll see you at a show sometime!
8pm - 1 am
I was born in a small town near Birmingham, AL and raised in Florida. I've called everywhere from the beach to the mountains home and consider enjoying the outdoors second nature. My earliest memory has to be riding my tricycle around the block, and way too close to a busy road. I got in big trouble for that! My second earliest memory is playing DJ and singing along to every song. You could say the influence of radio stayed with me all the way through college, where I majored in Communications. Country music has been a big part of my life from the start, singing along to Charlie Pride, George Jones and my favorite, Ronnie Milsap, with my dad on road trips. These days, new artist Cam is one of my favorites, and I have a soft spot for Dierks Bentley. Even though I have lived all over the country, home is wherever friends, family, delicious food and awesome music are found. I'm glad to have found a home on the radio with you!
1am - 6am
I’ve been involved in Country music since I was hired to be a bar back in the early 80’s at the World Famous Gilley’s nightclub in Pasadena, Texas during the height of the Urban Cowboy craze. Although Country music has gone through many variations since then it has always been the first preset on my radio because it still has the foundation of real stories told by real people about real life. Some of my favorite current artists are Chris Young, Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer. Some of my all-time favorites are Willie Nelson, George Jones and Reba. My wife Fran and I are a blended family of 5 kids, 2 dogs and a cat and when her and I get some free time (ha ha what’s that?) we usually point the car toward the beach, set up camp and just stare at it.
